Today I launched Women Who Design, a Twitter profile directory of inspiring women in the design industry. It aims to help people find notable voices to follow on Twitter that are most interesting to them.

I got the idea to build Women Who Design after a recent Twitter thread generated a huge list of amazing women who work on all different aspects of design. A few people were joking around that the thread was a great place to find potential recruits and I realized I had a different need: I’m not trying to recruit anyone but I’d love to find women who are excelling at specific things that I’m interested in or trying to learn more about. It also seemed like a waste to let the list get lost in all the noise on Twitter, so I decided to use it as a jumping off point and record each woman’s profile in a free-standing, sortable directory.

The site is built with Node and the Twitter API.
